Mildred P. Freiberg Piano Festival
(formerly the Belmont Piano Festival)
Mildred Freiberg was a highly esteemed pianist, educator and mentor to many. She was a former Powers Music School Board President and one of the founders of our School. Therefore, it is with great honor that Powers Music School renamed the long-standing Belmont Piano festival after Mildred P. Freiberg in 2007.
The Festival will celebrate its 46th year in 2009. This two-day celebration consists of multiple concerts and has become a tradition for students in grades K-12. Powers Music School and the Belmont Piano Festival share a common history, since the Festival was the catalyst for the founding of Powers Music School.
Over the years, the Festival concerts have celebrated both a student's first performance and the exciting accomplishments of more mature artists.
The goal of the piano festival has always been to broaden the students' as well as the teachers' experience and love of music. A variety of styles and teaching methods are presented through these performances in a non-competitive manner that stimulates the local music community.
