The Ellen Huff Powers Merit Scholarship program was created to honor the memory of Ellen, Powers Music School's first Director and founding member. Each year, scholarships are awarded based on merit to help students enrich and further their studies with ensemble and group programs. All scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis according to the amount of aid currently available for the year.
This year, Ellen Huff Powers Merit Scholarships will help support two initiatives:
Powers Conservatory Program
The Powers Conservatory program offers merit scholarship assistance to passionate, dedicated students ages 9-18 (through Grade 12) who wish to pursue strong classical training. Acceptance into the Conservatory program is contingent upon recommendation from the student’s private lesson teacher, a placement audition, and acceptance and enrollment in 60-minute lessons, theory, and MYSP and/or an ensemble.

MYSP Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships may be offered for First Chair positions in the MYSP Chamber Orchestra depending on available scholarship funds. Please let us know at your MYSP audition if you are interested in a chair position or would like to be considered for a merit scholarship.
