Lisle Kulbach

Lisle Kulbach teaches piano and recorder at Powers Music School. A multi-instrumentalist, she studied piano in New York with Vladzia Mashke, majored in piano at Boston University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in harpsichord from New England Conservatory. Lisle co-won the Bodky Award as the harpsichordist for Sarah Cunningham on viola da gamba. She studies piano in New York with Sophia Rosoff, a proponent of Abbey Whiteside’s teachings. In October 2012, Lisle played a Tröndlin piano (Leipzig, 1830) in an all-Schubert program at the internationally acclaimed Frederick Collection in Ashburnham, MA. In addition, Lisle plays Early Music, on strings, winds, and sings. She played with the Quadrivium Consort for 21 years under the direction of Marleen Montgomery, studied recorder with Frans Brüggen, and viola da gamba with Gian Silbiger. Lisle plays violin, kemenje, psaltery, and sings with the Sephardic group, Voice of the Turtle. She has played with several educational groups sponsored by Young Audiences, the most recent with the group Promised Land, which presents an immigration program in schools throughout Massachusetts. Lisle has been teaching at Powers since 1978.
