Modal Music Session

Time: 7:00pm
Location: 160 Lexington St (Main Building)
Contact: Tev Stevig

Join us to play modal music together in a group setting! Led by Tev Stevig, these sessions are a way to meet other modal musicians in the Boston area and build a shared repertoire in a variety of modal traditions, including Turkish, Greek, Armenian, Persian, Arabic, and more.

Rsvp

Musicians ages 10 and up of any background or level of experience are encouraged to attend. Bowed and plucked strings, percussion, woodwinds, brass, and vocals are all appropriate. Piano students can join as vocalists – we all start learning by singing! If you are a beginner or new to modal music, join us to play or sing along, or just listen.

Find everything you need for this session on Tev’s website and Labyrinth New England’s Resources page.

Sessions will be held at 7:00 each month at Powers unless otherwise noted. Check the website for upcoming session dates, and feel free to just show up! RSVPs are encouraged so we can let you know about any changes to the schedule. You can sign up for as many sessions as you like! Learn more here!

This session will be in the Cabot Room, up the stairs under the purple awning with our logo. Parking is available in front of the building or the lot on the corner of Lexington and Beech Street.

The Modal Music Session is free to attend, with a suggested donation of $20 to cover expenses associated with the venue and time of our session leader. Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.
