
Jayson Banton

Jayson Banton is a passionate tenor and dedicated voice educator whose work bridges performance, pedagogy, and research. His artistry and teaching reflect a deep commitment to developing versatile, healthy, and stylistically informed singers.
Jayson holds a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he served as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate pedagogy and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Voice for Non-Majors. In these roles, he presented on topics such as vocal cross-training, research methods, and musical theater history. He currently serves as a Visiting Lecturer of Voice at Salem State University and teaches students across classical, musical theater, and contemporary commercial styles through his various studio roles.
As a performer, Jayson is a rostered tenor with the American Spiritual Ensemble and has appeared with Chicago Summer Opera, Odyssey Opera, and Opera Orlando. His research, The Effects of Cross-Genre Singing on Perceived Vocal Quality in Treble Singers, was presented at the 2025 Voice Foundation Symposium and reflects his ongoing interest in cross-training and genre flexibility.
In 2024–2025, Jayson was selected for the inaugural NATS Boston Mentorship Program, where he was mentored by Dr. Ian Howell. He continues this mentorship through the NATS National Mentoring Collaborative 2025.
