Mark Perez is a Boston-based trumpeter, educator, and arts administrator. Originally from Southern California, his musical career began at the age of twelve when he joined the beginner band, initially playing on his father’s cornet. He earned his B.M. in Music Education from the University of Redlands and went on to complete his M.M. in Trumpet Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
Mark’s musical journey includes qualifying for the National Trumpet Competition for two consecutive years, attending both the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute and Longy’s Divergent Studio, and having the privilege of performing with renowned groups like Bill Banfield’s Imagine Orchestra, The New England Philharmonic, Summit Brass, and the Du Bois Orchestra. In addition to Powers, Mark is a faculty member and arts administrator at the Community Music Center of Boston where he teaches brass lessons, supports music educators across the East Boston area, and provides private trumpet lessons at the prestigious Boston Latin School. Outside of music, Mark is a seasoned lifeguard with nearly seven years on the job, a novice cyclist who enjoys biking around the streets of Boston, an amateur home cook who loves experimenting without recipes, and an avid gamer who indulges in both tabletop and video games!
