Melody Giron is a Boston-born cellist who began her studies at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School at the age of four. Now based between Boston and New York City, she has built a versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and recording artist, performing throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.
She has appeared with ensembles including A Far Cry, Palaver Strings, Metro Chamber Orchestra NYC, Chamber Orchestra of New York, CMI San Antonio Opera, The Orchestra San Antonio, and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, and has premiered works by composers such as Julia Wolfe and Ted Hearne. Her recording credits include the films Boy Erased and Gemini Man, and her theater work spans Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including The Sandbox and Unknown Soldier.
Equally active in the popular music world, Melody has toured with Sara Bareilles and performed alongside artists such as Stevie Wonder, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Emily King, Andra Day, Keyshia Cole, Shawn Mendes, and Kelly Clarkson. She has appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and her television work includes NBC’s America’s Got Talent and Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle.
She also collaborates regularly with contemporary artist Cally Spooner, most recently on the large-scale sound installation Melody’s Warm Up: Deadtime, presented in Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Greece, Chicago, and beyond.
A passionate educator, Melody maintains private studios in both New York and Boston and serves on the faculties of Project STEP and the Suzuki School of Newton. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory and a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
