Our wish was to find a music class that involved some instruction but also provided the flexibility to be creative, dance, and incorporate instruments and play. Powers manages to do all of this, supported by a wonderful teacher (“Ms. Jennifer”) who gently encourages everyone to participate when they feel ready. – Carl, parent of 2023 student Cece

The Music Class for Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers
You’ve researched all the music classes and activities in your area and are overwhelmed by all of the options. How do you choose one that you know your child will enjoy, helps him learn, is affordable, and works with your packed schedule?
You’ll feel confident that you’re doing the best you can as a parent by choosing The Music Class®. Each session gives your little ones an introduction to a wide variety of music styles, songs, and instruments that are fun and educational. We sing, dance, jump, play percussion instruments, roll balls, and wiggle around to get a good musical foundation.
Fun and educational
The Music Class® is a step ahead because our instructors are trained to help children reach important milestones in their music learning and in their general growth and development. The song collections we use are easy to learn but surprisingly sophisticated, teaching your child the skills to match pitches and rhythms and create music on his own. Those skills might spark an interest in playing an instrument later or simply create a long-lasting appreciation for music.
Learning for the whole family
Parents and caregivers participate too, in a relaxed, nonjudgmental environment. You’ll learn how to encourage your child to keep singing and making music outside of class. The music and materials are included in your tuition – play the music at home or in the car and make routine things like grocery shopping fun for everyone!
That joy and pride you feel when you hear your daughter’s first word? You’ll feel that again when you hear her singing the Music Class® songs for the first time in class or at home as she’s tucking her stuffed animals in at bedtime. And that love for music will last forever.
Our winter session features “The Tiger Collection” – join us as we sing, move, dance, and play to this fun collection of songs!

My child is shy / bouncing off the walls / grouchy / goofy / tired / just a baby. Is this a good class for him/her?
The Music Class® is a mixed-age class that is perfect for all ages (newborn up to age 4), all energy levels, and all styles of learning. If your child is cranky because he skipped his morning nap, refuses to get off your lap, is so little she can’t speak or hold an instrument yet, or loves to run and yell, learning is still happening. Even if they don’t fully participate, by listening and observing, kids are still taking in all of the music and lessons being taught. Come as you are, and know that your little one is still benefitting!
Do babies really learn anything in class?
(From The Music Class® website:) There is a growing body of research that suggests the younger a child is, the more she is learning. Even though a baby cannot run, clap or sing in class, her brain is developing at a faster rate than the brains of the big kids. Absorbing musical sounds is the first step in music development. Of course, your baby cannot show you how much she is learning now. Be patient! Let her feel the beat, listen to you sing, and observe in class. When she becomes a toddler she will surely blossom. Then you will see firsthand the benefits of coming to class during that precious first year.
Are the weekday classes different from the Saturday classes?
Nope! The song collection and activities are the same in each class time. The weekday classes relieve the stress of planning activities if you’re a stay-at-home parent or if a nanny, babysitter, or au pair watches your child while you’re at work. The Saturday classes are a great option for busy parents to make memories and spend quality time with their kids.
What’s included in my tuition? Can you explain the various costs and fees?
Tuition for each Fall, Winter, or Spring session includes 45-minute classes and the $35 materials fee. In addition, there is a registration fee for each child per semester. The included materials fee covers music through a digital app called TMC Tunes® for listening and singing outside of class and creative ideas to share with your child at home.
Are you a parent of twins? Trying to coordinate activities for siblings of different ages? The affordable cost and sibling discount makes The Music Class® an easy choice if you have more than one child. If you enroll a sibling in the same class, you do not need to pay the materials fee again, but you do pay the discounted tuition cost (free for siblings 9 months or younger!) and the registration fee for each additional child.
How Do We Access the TMC Tunes® app?
Music and songbook will be provided digitally after registration is processed. Music is provided via the TMC Tunes® app, available in both Apple and Android app stores. Instructions and access code will be sent via email before your first class. Songbook access link is provided within the TMC Tunes app.
Can we make up a class we missed?
3 make-ups are allowed per semester. If you must miss your regular class time, you may notify the office in advance and request to attend a different class time (as long as there is space) to make up that particular class. Make-ups cannot be used in a different session.
Not ready to make a decision yet?
Our door (the physical one and the virtual one) is always open when you’re ready to think about music and activities for your kids.
