Musical Storytelling Program

Join Powers faculty members at local libraries as they narrate this free series of original musical story performances featuring live music and age-appropriate stories for children. These interactive programs are specifically developed for children ages 3 and up, but all ages are welcome to attend!

Our rotating cast of performers includes Powers faculty and guests:

  • Yas Ishibashi (piano, vocals)
  • Todd Brunel (saxophone, clarinet)
  • David Stevens (saxophone, clarinet)
  • Ken Paynter (string bass)
  • Katrin Peterson (Percussion)

This year we will be performing Elephants Cannot Dance! from the Elephant & Piggie series by Mo Willems.

About the Musical Storytelling Program

Story programs are interactive events where children and their caretakers are encouraged to sing, move, and dance while the story is narrated and dramatized before their eyes. Our goal is to promote literacy and a lifelong love of reading and music through fun, engaging, and inspiring performances.

We are grateful to have the past support of the Belmont Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, to make this program possible.
